(Peoria, IL, 2/13/2025) Business PAC of Central Illinois (BizPAC) announces the endorsement of John Kelly to be the next Mayor of Peoria.
BizPAC is a diverse and non-partisan political organization comprised of Central Illinois business leaders volunteering their time to make Peoria more business friendly so we can grow the number of jobs in our community. John Kelly’s BizPAC endorsement comes after a thorough review of all the mayoral candidates’ voting records, BizPAC questionnaires, and candidate interviews.
“John Kelly is the candidate for change. Peoria needs new ideas and bold leadership that will support business with lower taxes and less regulation. John is not afraid to ask hard questions and dig deep into detailed analysis so that we can find the best path forward for Peoria. John is the candidate that believes in a balanced budget without raising taxes,“ said BizPAC President Sean Garrett. “John Kelly has been dedicated to improving our community for a long time and would bring vision to the Mayor’s Office. Since joining the Peoria City Council he has consistently challenged the status quo and brought fresh solutions to problems that have been festering for years. John Kelly is the leader we need right now. He will ask the hard questions and he will work with our great citizens and businesses to find a better path forward.”
John Kelly understands the importance of our downtown Peoria and knows that we need to create an environment that is attractive to business investment and visitors. John voted to end the tent cities and will work hand in hand with businesses to ensure the City has the proper tools and approach to revitalize our downtown into a safe and vibrant area that we can all be proud of once again.
As a retired financial professional, John Kelly has the analytical skills necessary to address the City’s complex pension problems and identify and eliminate unnecessary spending plaguing our City’s finances. John will not rely on tax increases to balance our budgets and recently voted against the tax increase that property owners will soon be seeing on their property tax bills.
John Kelly has long maintained an A grade on the BizPAC Scorecard. John is proactive in reaching out to the business community and seeking their input. He looks across the country to study best-practices and identify ideas worthy of implementing in Peoria. John knows that our best days are ahead of us but we need a fresh approach and we must change the status quo. Peoria is a resilient community with tremendous potential and we deserve a visionary leader like John Kelly.
